Held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington this year to accommodate the ever increasing crowds, the organizers of IndiaFest 2006 put out a grand program resulting in a standing-room only crowd in the Wilmington Hall at the Chase Center.
The annual IndiaFest event keeps getting bigger and better.
Visiting this event after a gap of four years was an eye-opener for us. The Indian community in Delaware is getting bigger, much bigger.
The cultural programs were easily the best part of IndiaFest 2006.
A variety of dances - including one that was a moving tribute to the resilience of Mumbai in the face of floods and terror attacks - held the large audience enthralled. Dance programs representing the arts of different parts of India were a feast for the eyes and ears.
Vendors peddling a range of goods from Bollywood DVDS to Indian handicraft items to fashion accessories and Henna seemed to be doing brisk business inside the huge hall of the Chase Center.
Even the Rain Gods smiled on IndiaFest 2006. It was a sunny day, unlike the last few rain-soaked days.
All in all, everyone seemed to be having a good time at IndiaFest 2006.
